CANADA DAY
i’m one of the most skeptical people alive when it comes to the government and it’s relationship with Native Peoples in Canada. yesterday i watched part of the cbc coverage of the canada day celebrations in ottawa and i was surprised to hear harper make reference to this being the best canada day in canada’s history because of the apology that was made to the residential school survivors. to paraphrase what was said, basically, harper said canada had a long way to go but the dark cloud had been moved and that the 141st bday of canada was going to to be the best yet because canada had made the apology. i’m still skeptical, but, i think it’s true – so far.
WINNIPEG FRINGE
i’m getting my show schedule together. i’m glad not to be in the fringe this year, as i can just go watch, visit friends, and take off whenever the hell i want. last year, i had a late night show that run every night during the fringe and after two weeks of performing until 12.30am i was a mess. my next post i’ll list the shows i’m going to see. some of my friends have shows in the fringe, and unlike last year, i WON’T be missing their shows.
NO LUCK CLUB
an awesome instrumental hip hop band from vancouver, they blew my mind yesterday during an hour and something long drive. their music has depth, wicked turntablism, and hooks that make you shake your fat ass. check out their myspace here.
