SUMMERTIME READING
i’m reading “belushi” right now and it is an absolutely amazing read. anyone that knows me knows i’m a comedy nerd, but this book is a complete look at the beginning of the national lampoon, snl, and of course john belushi (personal god of mine). the book takes an in depth look at the beginning of belushi’s career and his beginnings with “the lemmings” and his move over to “the national lampoon” and it takes a look at his relationships with akroyd, guest, ramis, chase, and many others. it is narrarated, sorta, by belushi’s wife, and the stories are highly personal and quite touching, often sharing the neurotic work-a-holic lifestyle that he lived, but also, the never talked about, deeply human side of belushi. i’m only half way through the book (which is a miracle for me as i rarely read books) and i love it. it was originally $45, and i got it at chapters for $9 in the bargain bin. get it.

NEW SHOW
plans are coming along nicely. merke and i met last night for a few hours to hammer out the details. as always, our goals are lofty, but we’re going to deliver the best live comedy show people have ever seen in this city. it’ll feature locals, as well as some of our friends from around the comedy world (showing video, etc.), and it’ll be a different show every month, with the idea being, you never know what to expext when you come to a show. look for it the last saturday of september.

WHO GIVES A SHIT
i’m not sure if anyone that reads this blog even follows sports like i do, but does anyone give a shit if mats sundin goes back to the leafs? does anyone give a shit if he ever plays again? in an era of ‘veterans’ earning their right to decide if it’s time to hang up the skates before signing a one year contract, all the while leaving their team in limbo, who gives a fuck about these old fuck heads who are so self involved they actually think their fans are going to wait around with baited breath in hopes that they come back – fuck you sundin, neidemeyer, selanne, etc.. you are what is wrong with sports. if you’re not sure, don’t fucking play. it means your fire is gone.
