Nominated as “BEST COMEDIAN” at the 2009 North American Indigenous Image Awards
i have a hard time honking my own horn and i admit that i’m not my own biggest fan. as an artist, i constantly try and push further, explore material over and over again, i’m never happy with my jokes and i never feel like they are finished yet. maybe i’m crazy, maybe i’m obsessive/compulsive, maybe i’m just afraid to be happy with the art that i do. the one thing i know for sure is that i’m as interested in process as i am in product.
to me, the joy of finding a “funny thing” and trying to unearth what it means to me in any form, whether it’s through standup comedy, video, improvised comedy, sketch, or a character piece, is what comedy is about for me. shaping that into a “thing” is just as enjoyable to me as being in front of an audience.
without sounding too cliche – hard work does pay off. i’ve been nominated for a pretty major award in indian country and if you’re interested or care to look – here’s the website – NORTH AMERICAN INDIGENOUS IMAGE AWARDS.
