Based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, McMahon is making a name for himself as one of the most dynamic comedy performers working in Canada today. Considered a comedian that happens to be Native, rather than being a Native comedian, McMahon steers clear of cultural stereotypes onstage, and instead, his live show combines standup, improv, and sketch comedy weaving hilarious stories, characters, and a very unique and original style of comedy that he calls – Indian Vaudeville.
Some noteable bio highlights include:
- One of the first Aboriginal Graduates of the Second City Toronto Conservatory, McMahon studied at the famed conservatory on full scholarship from the Toronto Theatre Alliance Cross Cultural Scholarship.
- Ryan was the Pre-Show Host of the 2008 APCMA’s (Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards) as his staple character – Clarence Two Toes.
- Ryan was nominated as Best Comedian at the 2009 NAIIA’s (North American Indigenous Image Awards) which takes place yearly in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- McMahon was honoured to be a Writer/Host/Featured Performer for APTN’s broadcast of the 2009 Aboriginal Day Live broadcast. Ryan was the Northern host (Waneek Horn-Miller co-hosted) for the Whitehorse, Yukon show.
- Featured Comedian on Season 3 of Rez Tunez TV (airing fall 2009). A change in format for the highly rated Rez Bluez series from creator Elaine Bomberry, McMahon will the featured comedian for the entire third season of this broadcast icon.
