CBC Manitoba Series – NDN ACTION – Features Ryan McMahon
a couple of weeks ago i was honoured to be a part of the cbc radio series – NDN ACTION. i was asked by a kick ass producer, ruth shead (@ruthlesstravels on twitter), at the cbc to be a part of the series as they were profiling a handful of indian people around manitoba that are taking action to make change/create change/be the change in their communities. it was a fantastic interview and we talked for nearly an hour about a whole bunch of different things. i generally hate talking about myself but ruth had a sensibility and an understanding that i hadn’t experienced with the media before – a breathe of fresh air really.

straight up – if you’re dog is off his/her leash at a park, and it comes running at my kids – it fucking dies.
i like animals. i grew up with dogs. but if you’re a pet owner you have a responsibility to train and control your pet in public. last night, i took my kids to the park near our house. we were playing a pretty serious soccer match (i was winning 4-0) when all of the sudden a fair sized mutt came running around the fence and went straight for the soccer ball. in full stride that little fucker turned his attention from the ball to my 3 year old. i was quite a few steps away yet and the dog got to her before i did. he knocked her down and jumped …
Ryan McMahon Comedy – My Argument
being off this summer, from a ‘day job’, and working full time at comedy has been a pleasure and a mind fuck. i feel like i’m finally in a place now that i can do this full time. i am booked up until christmas, and i have some bigger shows that i’m going to be producing for myself, but, i have full time comedy work until then. it’s a bit scary.
i have worked really hard to get to where i’m at. if i put it into context, i’ve been working at ‘being a comedian’ since 1999, and i’m still not sure that i’m there. how do i know that i’m able to call myself a comedian. calling yourself a comedian, in comedy cirlces, is a big risk. alot of ‘pro’s’ jump …
